Octavie ESCURE vous raconte son rapport aux bijoux

Octavie ESCURE tells you about her relationship with jewelry

I met Octavie 4 years ago. We were coming out of repeated lockdowns, and I wanted to rediscover the atmosphere of dance studios, she wanted to collaborate with creators to highlight them. I immediately loved her entrepreneurial spirit, who leads her life as a mother of two little boys, her love of dance and develops her unique concept, Fit'ballet. A bombshell mix that she stages on Instagram with humor and grace.

"My name is Octavie Escure, and I am the founder of Fit'ballet , a unique method that combines the grace of classical dance with the intensity of fitness training. As the creator of this method, I strive to make ballet accessible to all, while maintaining its elegance and discipline.

Before embarking on this entrepreneurial adventure, I had a somewhat atypical career as a classical dancer, having notably worked alongside Peter Doherty, an experience which enriched my artistic vision and inspired me to innovate in the world of dance.

Outside of work, I'm also the mother of two little boys, Léon and Gabin, who inspire me every day with their energy and zest for life. My professional and personal journey has taught me to combine passion, creativity, and resilience—values I continue to share through Fit'ballet.

Is jewelry important to you? What is your relationship with jewelry?

Jewelry has always held a special place in my life. For me, they are much more than just accessories; they tell a story, a moment in my life, and convey emotions. Some pieces of jewelry are talismans that I wear every day. They accompany me everywhere, reminding me of people who are important to my heart; I could never part with them.
Then there are the pieces of jewelry I like to match with my outfits, my manicures, or even the season. These pieces reflect my current mood and my style without getting in the way of my work. Each piece of jewelry I choose to wear has a special meaning, to keep my loved ones close to me, and to celebrate each moment of life with elegance and intention.

Are you more into jewelry or costume jewelry?

I tend to appreciate jewelry not because I buy it for myself, but because I see it primarily as a precious gift. For me, jewelry has a deep sentimental value, far beyond its simple aesthetic aspect. I'm not at all the type to buy jewelry for myself, or very rarely, and only when it's a true crush.
Most of the jewelry I wear is a gift from my family or my lover, and each one carries a story, a memory, an emotion. It's this emotional and personal dimension. They reflect the important moments in my life, the people I love, and the memories I cherish. This is why jewelry has such a special meaning for me.

Rather old or contemporary?

As the granddaughter of antique dealers, I've always had a deep admiration for antique jewelry and the fine craftsmanship that goes into it. I grew up surrounded by magnificent pieces, each with its own story and unique craftsmanship. These pieces are true works of art, and I've always been fascinated by the meticulousness and passion of the artisans who created them.
But I'm beginning to appreciate contemporary jewelry from certain designers. I love discovering new approaches and seeing how innovation and simple lines blend with past traditions. These modern pieces bring a freshness and boldness that increasingly attracts me, and I find their diversity and originality just as captivating.
For me, whether antique or contemporary, jewelry is much more than just ornaments. It is a testament to history, culture, and the evolution of art through the ages.

Your first memory of jewelry?

My first memory of jewelry dates back to my maternal grandmother's jewelry box on her dressing table. It was a real treasure trove for me, where each piece of jewelry seemed to tell a story. I vividly remember those magical moments when I put all her rings on my fingers, imagining that one of them might come back to me one day!!!!!
Each time, she told me the story of each of her jewels: where she had found them, or who had given them to her, the period to which they belonged, etc. It is thanks to these memories and these moments spent with her that I learned to appreciate the beauty, the know-how and the emotional richness of antique jewels.

The one you never leave?

I always wear a small cross around my neck, and I never take it off. It has an inexplicable sentimental value for me. Beyond its simplicity, this cross symbolizes something deeply personal and precious; it brings me a kind of comfort and strength that I cannot explain.

The one that makes you dream?

I don't necessarily dream of owning a particular piece of jewelry. For me, what matters most is the symbolism and the memories they represent.
If I could make one wish, it would be to find some treasures I lost when I was younger. Among them is my bracelet given to me by my grandmother. It was very old, belle époque, a real splendor, I've never seen another one like it on anyone. I unfortunately lost it during a tour with Peter Doherty, at the time when I was still dancing. I was devastated, because I never took it off. But as my mother says, jewelry must be worn; it has no place staying in a jewelry box all my life.
I especially hope that the person who found it took care of it!

Do you believe in lucky charms and protective powers? What's your favorite talisman?

For me, many objects or pieces of jewelry have the value of good luck charms. I firmly believe that some of them carry an energy or memory that gives them a special meaning. Whether it's a piece of jewelry passed down from generation to generation or a small object found by chance, each one has its own story and magic. They accompany me every day, and I like to think that they bring a touch of luck and protection to my life.

What are you wearing today?

Today was my sons' first day back at school, and for the occasion, I put my watch back on after two months without wearing it! It's a piece I love: a gold MarchLab watch with a blue dial, with a decidedly seventies design.
Other than that, nothing has changed in my summer outfit! I still wear my gold chains around my neck (in summer I like to wear several!!): one with a tiger claw that my sister gave me, another with two plaques bearing my children's names, as well as the little cross that I never take off. I also have a small beaded gold chain choker that I received for my birthday this year.
On my right wrist, I wear two bangles that my darling gave me for the birth of each of our boys, as well as a small garnet symbolizing my Catalan homeland, a souvenir from the beginning of our relationship. And then, there are my little bracelets that I love to accumulate in the summer too, like those made of shells or mother-of-pearl. The students from the dance school gave me several at the gala, and I haven't taken them off!
As for rings, I also like to accumulate them. But there are certain pieces that I never part with: my Cartier stud, which is one of the modern pieces in my box! I also wear a pretty Souleiado ring that I found in Arles last May. And on the ring finger of my left hand, I wear a small diamond given to me by my lover. We are not married, but I like to wear it there!
Finally, for my ears, I never take off my pair of gold hoop earrings. That's it for today, a little return to routine with my treasures that accompany me every day!

What if you had to choose an upcycled BLISS piece?

Hard, hard to choose just one! But I love the BLISS in BANGKOK collection, so maybe the Thai Buddha, dragonfly and malachite necklace !!
