For 20 years now, Brittany has gradually taken up space in my life. It wasn't a choice at the beginning, but she was able to reveal wonderful places and people to me, who made me want to make it my refuge, far from the fury of Paris.
Thanks to the confinements, I settled there gradually, always discovering new landscapes each season, new places of exchange, meeting inspiring and generous people. Brittany reminds me of Denmark, where I loved living when I was a student. It is also so rich in stories, well-established traditions, pagan legends and religious beliefs. It is extraordinary, linked to the sea and the wind, soft at sunset, mineral and strong in winter. There is a claimed belonging that I have not found anywhere else in France.
However, it is also strangely modern and uninhibited, attracting and inspiring creative people who sometimes rediscover themselves there, who leave everything behind for it.
The dynamism since the confinements continues. This corner of paradise in Morbihan has been coming back to life for several years, thanks to initiatives that are sometimes daring but which offer difference, life, renewal in villages that really needed it.
10 creative and inspired initiatives, open all year round, between Trinité-sur-Mer and Erdeven,...
Rose and Jin , the story of a meeting between India and Brittany, which comes to take root again in Trinité-sur-Mer, where Rose presents in her boutique clothes made in blockprint with such light prints, and a very beautiful selection of jewelry objects brought back from India as well.
A place for everything , the most beautiful decoration and vintage fashion boutique in the area, in Carnac , almost in front of the sea, a little break is in order when returning from the Grand Plage. Clothes from the 60s to 80s, all in France, beautiful old crockery, lamps and wicker, delicately selected by Caroline, the queen of the Rien de Neuf Challenge!
Le Kiosque , just opposite, has recently been taken over by a collective of young creators who are absolutely worth discovering. 2 designers, 2 jewelry creators and an illustrator who tells his vision of the region and the holidays. We fell in love with the Les Vacances posters in the window.
Mersea People , Dothy, multidisciplinary artist, layers on paper, ceramic or fabric, his love of the sea. Blue, rhymes, waves of paint, constantly renewed, to discover in his boutique workshop in Quiberon .
ATS surf shop a very safe selection of surf equipment but also fashion reminiscent of California. One store in Carnac, the other in Plouharnel, with the same surf and skate atmosphere.
Hello Rivage , a very nice initiative to bring life back to a small, sleepy station. It is now an eco-responsible meeting place run by Julie and Magali, who prepare delicious, original and organic dishes, organize events every week, with a large garden in guinguette style. A place to follow closely!
les Pepins , opening a cellar-grocery store-wine bar in the heart of the village of Erdeven, it was a real Paris! Absolute success, a perfect place to try organic wines and local productions of Gin, Whiskey, soups or terrines, in a friendly atmosphere.
la Loutre , funny puns, beautiful graphics that depict the towns of Brittany, and ultra pop colors, which are available in posters and many other supports. to buy online, or at Olsons in Carnac.
O'local , the latest addition. On the edge of the wild Kerhillio beach, a small concept store restaurant with ultra original decor inspired by the 80s, orchestrated by the charming Laure. Surf and relaxed atmosphere. The best hot dogs on the coast.
Breton love , this one is not quite from Morbihan, but good. It is a declaration of love from a graphic designer to her native land. Quirky but romantic, and well documented, Maiwenn tells in drawings and prints of her grandmother's Brittany, what she misses in Paris, what she wants to pass on. It's funny, a bit offbeat, and that's why we love it.
Unfortunately, I can't list everything, as the region is full of people who have brilliant ideas. They are all to be encouraged, to revive the region, its traditions and its pride. The return of Breizh Power.
